How to Prepare Saravana Bhavan Sambar Recipe in Tamil Hotel Style for Rice and Idli

Today’s special is how to prepare saravana bhavan sambar recipe in Tamil Hotel Style. Saravana bhavan sambar in Tamil nadu is very popular for its unique taste.  Saravana bhavan meals sambar recipe is given as a side dish for sadam (rice) and the saravana bhavan sambar idli recipe side dish differ little. This recipe is given as a side dish for idli, dosa and pongal. All age people like the taste, the ladies usually try to find the saravana bhavan sambar secrete to make the recipe at home. Below I have given the easy recipe to cook saravana bhavan sambar at home.  

Saravana bhavan sambar Ingredients

Lentil – 1 cup
Garlic – 3 cloves
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Pepper – 1/2tsp
Oil – little
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Smabar posi – 1tsp
Small onion – 1 cup
Tomato – 2
Tamarind juice – lemon sized
Curry leaves - little
Coriander leaves – little
Salt – as required
Vegetables – as per your taste – 1 cup

Saravana bhavan sambar sautéing Ingredients
Mustrad – 1tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
Asafotida – a pinch
Oil – little
Curry leaves a bunch
Small round red chillies - 2
 Coriander leaves – little

How to Make Hotel Saravana bhavan Sambar

  1. This is a simple and easy recipe for saravana bhavana sambar preparation.
  2. Wash and boil the lentil by adding 2 cups of water, cumin, pepper, garlic. Oil and turmeric powder.
  3. Then take a pan and fry the sautéing ingredients one by one.
  4. Then add the curry leaves, onion, tomato, chopped vegetables and sambar powder.
  5. Fry nicely in medium flame and add a2 cups of water, salt  and let to boil some time.
  6. Then add the tamarind juice and let it boil for another ten minutes.
  7. Finally mash the cooked lentil and add with the cooking vegetable water mix.
  8. Cook for another five more minutes and remove from the flame by adding asafotida and  chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Tasty  Saravana bhavan style sambar is ready to taste. you can prepare Saravana bhavan sambar sadam by adding this with hot rice. Mix well and add ghee.
  10.  Note: While preparing Saravana bhavan sambar for idli the consistency should be watery. It should be solid for rice.
