Tamil Style Sambar Powder Preparation Method
Tamil nadu sambar is very delicious, the taste is very special and it is due to Sambar Powder or sambar podi. Here I have given the recipe for Tamil Style Sambar Powder Preparation.
Ingredients for Sambar Powder Tamil nadu style
Red chillies – 500gm
Coriander seeds – 150gm
Toor Dal – 100gm
Kadala Paruppu(gram dal) – 100gm
Fenugreek seeds – 10gm
Pepper – 10gm
Curry leaves – 10gm
Solid Asafoetida – 20gm
Turmeric (soild) Katti manjal - 20gm
How to Prepare Tamil style Sambar powder recipe
Break the Solid Asafoetida and turmeric into small pieces.
Remove the stem of the red chillies and keep aside.
Take a thick bottomed pan and put Asafoetida first and fry for a minute.
Then fry the turmeric, Curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, pepper and all types of dal.
Fry until it changes the colour (do not fry until brown) keep it aside.
Then fry coriander seeds in medium flame for four minutes and the chillies for five minutes.
Let it to become cool and grind nicely.
Note: Dry the red chillies in sunlight for 2 days before preparing Tamil Style Sambar Powder.
Do not use Asafoetida powder, solid Asafoetida gives good taste.
