Cooked rice(non sticky) – 2 cups
Lemon – ½
Turmeric powder – a pinch

(Fried)Ground nut – as per taste
 onion chipped - 1
Chenna dal – 1tsp
Curry leaves – little
Coriander leaves chopped for garnish

  1. Take the lemon juice extract, add turmeric powder and keep it aside,
  2. Take the frying pan, add oil, sauté mustard, curry leaves and chenna dal.

Curry Tree - a little
Paruppu urundai or any vegetables – 1 cup
Oil and water – as per your taste

Ginger – 50gm
Jaggery – 100gm
Cumin seed - 25gm
Garlic – 10 cloves
Coriander seeds – 10gm
Ghee – 25gm

How to Prepare Diwali Legiyam Recipe Tamil Style
  1. Soak the cumin and coriander seeds for half an hour.
  2. Get tender ginger part and remove the outer skin
  3. Cut ginger into very small and thin pieces.
  4. Grind the soaked cumin and coriander with ginger.
  5. Now add the powdered jaggery with ground paste
  6. Take a thick bottomed pan, fry the garlic cloves.
  7. Then add the jaggery and ground mixture with fried galic.
  8. Stir continuously by adding ghee, stir for 15 minutes in low flame.

  • Soak and grind the red chillies nicely, soak the rice fifteen minutes,
  • Take a pan add ghee and oil, then add the sautéing ingredients followed by ginger garlic paste,
  • Then add the ground red chillies paste, after a minute add the finely chopped mutton pieces,
  • Fry it for 10-15 minutes and add the mint and coriander leaves, and then onion and tomatoes,
  • Add salt, a cup of curd and two cups of water. Close the lid and let the mutton to cook smoothly,

Ingredients for Meen kuzhambu recipe in Tamil nadu Style
Fish – 1/2 kg
Small onion - 100 g
Tomato - 2
Garlic - 10 teeth
Tamarind – Half lemon size
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tab. sp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric – a pinch
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 2 little
Coconut – 5tsp
Oil - 50 ml
Salt - as required

How to Prepare Meen kuzhambu recipe in Tamil nadu Style
  • Get fresh fish, wash and clean it by using salt,
  • Wash onion and tomato, chop into fine pieces,
  • Take a vesse, add little oil, heat and add mustard, fenugreek,
  • Then add the garlic and curry leaves.
  • Now add the chopped onion, Asafoetida, turmeric powder and tomato,
  • Add coriander powder, chilli powder and turmeric juice extract.
  • Let it to boil for some time meanwhile grind the coconut like a fine paste.
  • Finally add the ground coconut paste, and let to boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Now add the fish pieces, switch off the stove in one boil otherwise the flesh will be dissolved.
