Kambu Sadam Recipe Soru and Kanji Preparation


Kambu Sadam Recipe
kambu sadam is the traditional dish of Taminadu. It is still prepared in villages. The taste is excellent with the combination of puli chutney, groundnut chutney and arachuvitta kuzhambu. This is a nutritive meal and good diet for hyperglycemic people.

Ingredients required for Kambu Sadam Recipe
Kambu 1 cup
Water 3 cups
Salt as required

Kambu Sadam Recipe Preparation
Clean and wash kambu and soak for about 3 hours.
Then grind the soaked kambu in the mixture grinder by draining the water.
Take a vessel and pour three cups of water, salt and let it to boil.
Then add the ground kambu and stir well. Leave it to boil for 20 minutes in medium flame.
When it gets the consistency of kambu soru keep in sim flame for 5 minutes.
Next daymorning, You can also prepare kambu kanji from the excesses kambu sadam.
The next day morning add fresh curd and salt with the rise and mix well.
This is called kambu kanji, mor milagai(curd chilli) and onion slices are the best combination for  kambu kanji.

Kambu Sadam recipe Side dish Groundnut Chutney 
Roasted groundnut: 100gm
Coconut: 20gm
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Red chilies – 3-4
Garlic – 2 small pod
Salt as required
Curry leaves as required
        Tamarind: 2 pieces
        Grind the above ingredients by adding required water and make the delicious Groundnut Chutney.

Nellikai Sadam Ingredients
  • 2 cup Basmati rice
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup Nellikai (Goose berries sliced)
  • 4-6 green chillies
  • 2 onion
  • 1/4 cup fried ground nut
  • 2 tsp Urad daal
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • Oil 50ml
  • Turmeric powder pinch
  • coriander leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Salt
How to Make Nellikai Sadam Recipe   
  •  Cook basmati rice in a pressure cooker by adding double amount of water.
  • Chop the gooseberry in to very thin slices, cut green chillies in length
  • Then take a heavy bottom pan, heat oil and add Urad daal and mustard seeds.
  • When it gets fried add curry leaves, sliced onion and green chillies.  
  • Then add the Nellikai slices and fry well. When it is fried well switch of the stove and add the remaining Nellikai ingredients.
  • Mix well by adding enough salt and finally add the cooked basmati rice.
  • Garnish the Nellikai Sadam with fried ground nut and coriander leaves.

Marunthu Kuzhambu Poondu Milagu Kulambu Samayal Recipe

Ingredients required marunthu kuzhambu poondu milagu kulambu Samayal Recipe
Small onion( sambar onion) - 100 g
Garlic - 100 g
Black Pepper seeds 1 / 2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 / 2 tsp
Tomato 1 / 4 kg.
Grated coconut 1 tsp
chilly powder 1tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Gingelly Oil- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Salt as Required

Marunthu Kuzhambu Poondu Milagu Kulambu Preparation Method
  •          Clean and remove the out skin of garlic and Small onion.
  •          Cut sambar onion into equal medium sized pieces. Cut the tomatoes into thin slices.
  •          Keep a thick bottomed pan in the stove and heat for 2 minutes.
  •          Add Black Pepper seeds and Cumin seeds, fry well without adding oil.
  •          Then add Coriander powder and chilly powder, stir well for 30 seconds.
  •          Then finally add Grated coconut and fry for a minute.
  •          Grind the fried marunthu kuzhambu Poondu milagu kulambu ingredients as a fine paste.
  •          Take a pressure cooker and pour Gingelly Oil, then add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  •         Add small onion and garlic, keep the flame in sim and fry to become golden brown.
  •          Then add tomatoes and ground paste of marunthu kulambu ingredients, fry for 5 minutes.
  •          Finally add 1 glass of water, turmeric powder and salt. Boil this for 10 minutes.
  •          The delicious marunthu kuzhambu Poondu milagu kuzhambu recipe is ready.
  •         You can also prepare poondu milagu rasam in style by adding more water.

50 ml cup ghee
3 tbsp of honey
100gm of powdered jiggery(vellam in Tamil)

Chittu Kuruvi Legiyam Recipe Home Made Preparation Method
1. Clean all the chittu kuruvi legiyam Ingredients before going to start the preparation.
2. Take warm water and soak all the legiyam ingredients. Keep aside for one hour.
3. Keep honey, ghee and jiggery separately.
4. Grind the soaked chittu kuruvi legiyam ingredients. If necessary add water.
5. You should grind the ingredients like a soft paste to get the exact consistency for legiyam.
6.  If you are having 1 cup of paste take 2 cups of jiggery vellam.
7. Put the jiggery vellam in a thick bottomed vessel and add water. Heat this for about 10 min.
8.  Add the ground legiyam paste with jiggery, stir continuously.
9. Then keep it on the stove and continue heating, stirring constantly.
10. Remove it from the stove once it reached the legiyam (semi solid) consistency.

How to prepare pulikachal for Puliyodarai Recipe

Soak the Tamarind in water for about 1 hour and filter the essence. 

Keep a thick bottomed pan in the stove and add gingelly oil and fry dried red chillies.

Keep it aside and fry the mustard seeds and cumin seeds then add the tamarind water and let it to boil.

Keepe the stove in sim and leave it to boil for 10 min then add the raw Fenugreek seeds with the mixture.

Rice tippili (Arici thippli) - 10 sticks.
Dry ginger- small Piece
Basil - 100 g
Pepper - a table spoon
Cumin – Half table spoon
Coriander seeds- Half table spoon
Cardamom - 2 or 3
Jaggery - 100 gm
Ghee - 1 tsp

Pathiya Samayal after Delivery Prasava Legiyam Recipe Preparation

  • Giving Pathiya sappadu after delivery is considered as very important to maintain the health of both and method.

Aachi Samayal Chettinad Vatha Kuzhambu Recipe Preparation Method
Type: Vengaya vatha kuzhambu
  • Take a thick bottomed vessel and add 1tsp of Gingelly oil.
  • Put mustard, lentil, gram lentil, Kadali Parupu and Red chillies.
  • Cut the onion into small slices and add with fried Ingredients.
  • Then add the sliced tomato and fry for 2 minutes. Add the remaining oil also.
  • Now add the tamarind paste, turmeric powder, fried and powdered fenugreek seeds.
  • Add 1 cup of water, mix well and add the sambar powder and salt.  
  • Leave it to boil for ten minutes and finally add the fried Curry leaves.
  • Aachi Samayal Chettinad Recipe Vatha Kuzhambu is the best combination for rice with popped.  
  • Note:  While removing the preparation Oil should be separated from the recipe. This is the right consistency.
